This artwork combines a central image of a Red Squirrels in profile and as a portrait holding a prized nut. The image is surrounded by a MacMillan Dress Tartan. This clan Tartan shares similar colours to the squirrels in the central image and are autumnal. This piece showcases two aspects of Scottish cultural iconography, a native species and a clan Tartan. This painting is from the ‘Tartan’ series.
