Acrylic paint and Acrylic spray paint on Canvas.

Original artwork.

This artwork combines a central image of Highland Cows in a landscape on a mountainside. The image is surrounded by the Thompson camel tartan bordering the outside. This clan tartan is often confused with the infamous, beige Burberry fashion tartan known as the ‘Nova Check’, that is worn around the world. The origins of the Thomson camel tartan are disputed, it is widely considered that an American tartan expert and author called J.C ‘Scotty’ Thompson created it. Other sources suggest that it was designed by Laird Portch. This piece showcases two iconic aspects of Scottish culture, the Highland cow and a tartan pattern. This painting is from the ‘Tartan’ series.
